The Opimian Society
Canada's largest wine club
Calgary has a very strong Opimian chapter with more than 2,000 members. Opimian, a non-profit wine purchasing co-operative, has been a force in the Canadian wine scene since 1973. Members order wines through mail order catalogues or on-line and have exclusive access to wines that are expertly selected by wine consultant - Kenneth Christie, Master of Wine. All wines offered by Opimian are not available through any other liquor distribution channels in the country.
With 20,000 members from coast to coast to coast, Opimian has been at the forefront of emerging trends in wine for the last 36 years. Membership includes access to over 500 wines every year; the opportunity to attend tastings and events held by local Area Secretaries; a subscription to Canada's largest food and wine magazine, Tidings, and many other benefits. Calgary members also receive a substantial discount at Highlander Wine and Spirits.
